Basketball Rules & Regulations

Youth Games are:  Two - 16-minute halves - Running clock for the first 14 minutes and regular clock for the last 2 minutes for Youth Games 15U and Under

 

Adult Games are:   Two - 20-minute halves -  Running clock for the first 18 minutes and regular clock for the last 2 minutes for Adult Games (18 and Up) and 16U and Up

 

Half Time: 3-minutes 

 

Time Outs: 2 - 30 second timeouts and 1 full timeout per game

 

Overtime Rules: Each team gets one timeout each overtime except sudden death. No carryovers.

 

Forfeit Rules: A team shall lose a game by forfeit if the team is not present or is unable to field 5 players ready to play 10 minutes after the game is scheduled to start.

If a team forfeits more than 1 game during the duration of the tournament/league, that team will be automatically removed from the tournament/league schedule and no refund will be issued.

 

Pool Play - 1 minute for first overtime. Clock stops for each dead ball. 2nd overtime is sudden death - first point wins. No timeouts in sudden death. 

                     

Bracket Play - 1-minute overtimes. Clock stops for each dead ball. Championship Games - 2-minute overtimes. Clock stops for each dead ball.

 

Pressing Rules: 5U - 10U - only during last two minutes of each half and overtime as long as the pressing team does not have a 15-point lead. 

11U -17U - pressing is allowed anytime as long as pressing team does not have a 15-point lead. 

Adult Leagues -  pressing is allowed anytime as long as pressing team does not have a 20-point lead.

 

Defensive Rules: No half court zone defenses for 10U and under unless team is behind by 15 points. Help/recover is considered man - man. 

 

Tie Breaker Rules:  head-to-head, defensive points allowed, offensive points scored, coin flip

 

Technical Fouls:  2 free throws and the ball out of bounds.

 

Balls used: Please bring warm-up basketballs.

 

Score Keepers Youth Games : Each team is to provide a scorekeeper per game played. 

 

Score Keepers Adult League: Scorekeepers will be provided for each game played for the duration of the league.

 

Rosters/Waivers must be submitted at least 1 week prior to the first day of  tournaments/leagues. NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

Only the HEAD COACH may stand and coach within the coach's area. Assistant coaches cannot stand or talk to the referees during play.

A player may only play on one team during the tournament/league unless the two teams are from the same program. Permission from the tournament/league director is required.

 

If a player or coach is ejected, it is the discretion of the referees and the tournament/league director if the ejected player or coach may be allowed to watch. If a spectator is ejected from a game, they must leave the playing/spectator area for the remainder of the game. They may return to the next game at the discretion of the tournament/league director and referees.

 

Please supervise your kids in each of the facilities when not playing. Please do not allow them to dribble in the hallways and throughout the facilities.

 

No shooting will be permitted on the courts during halftimes and timeouts other than by the teams competing in that game.
